I have read all the books before it was turned into something mainstream. GRRM cannot be writing these episodes. He just signed a deal and is sippin Pina Coladas on an island somewhere while his brainchild has been commercialized.
You became famous by killing your main character in the first season. That was your shock value and what got people interested.
That is what made Game of Thrones famous and a show like no other. However, this last season, so far from the first two episodes , has been nothing but buddy-buddy, lovey-dovey crap that really seems like the writers want to allow the actors to say goodbye to each other and also seems to bring closure for every single character and every single relationship characters had with each other.
In the real world, there is rarely closure. And people die or don't have fairy-tale endings where they all lived happily ever after.
Like the book. And the other seasons. This tearful ending closure crap compromises the integrity of what the show was originally made famous for.
Go ahead and research the internet for comments made by the show's creators. They wanted to be done and made it so, forget any of us who were invested so far.
They want to excuse this sad attempt at money laundering with "we ran out of book material", meanwhile average nobody's on the internet have written a dozen variations leading to similar plot while fixing the inconsistencies.
Absolute garbage. Subverting expectations works when the story line allows something to make sense. But here it is.
Convenient plot points and decisions based solely on fan service. Because subverting expectations, dangit! Stories are meant to nourish the mind and soul.
Episode 3 disappointed me with cretinous, sloppy writing. Plot armor, terrible visual storytelling, removal of character agency, deus ex machina.
My subverted expectation of enjoying an epic battle was eclipsed by the breathtakingly juvenile writing and dialog in the next episode.

I wonder how GRRM is feeling about this or just likes looking at his bank account. Game of Thrones is easily the best television show ever made. Highest budget, actors who delve seriously into their roles, and numerous plots that'll make you all sorts of emotions, depending who you sympathize with.
The only reason it has ever gotten low ratings is because of the wait time we must endure in order to see the next installation.
The entire series was shot on high quality digital cameras and the 4-K experience can truly be experienced with the original source material.
I own the first 7 seasons on Blu-ray and it definitely has a higher quality than the streaming source on HBO.
I decided to preorder this last season in 4-K after watching the first episode and realizing that this final season would probably be the best yet.
I don't like that it's not out on DVD to complete my collection. There has not been a series with as much meaning and as much message as game of thrones.

I did not feel the series was rushed, nor under developed. Any longer it would have felt like the season was dragging along.
To some, it may not have ended the way they expected, but GOT from season one has never been predictable.

I binge watched the entire 8th season after receiving this set and was pleasantly surprised that it held my interest all the way through.
I felt that it was a brilliant season, and it doesn't feel rushed to me as some might say, though I think some people just didn't want it to end, and end it did with the consummate annihilation of nearly everything in sight.
The nihilistic destruction in the second to last episode was nearly all consuming, though like a forest fire it had to burn the old growth before the forest could sprout up and flourish anew.
