The Trickery Lantern Episode Catweazle starts preparing for his long journey home. He steals a spotlight, and startles Mr. Bennet's sister that he is the ghost of Hexwood Farm.
The Wisdom of Solomon Episode Bennet grows tired of trying to keep the house clean, so he hires a new housekeeper, Mrs. She brings her obnoxious son, Arthur, along with her to Hexwood Farm.
They both cause upset, and Catweazle is called upon to cast a spell to get rid of them both. The Flying Broomsticks Episode Broomsticks have been disappearing from the area with alarming regularity.
The local police investigate and Sam thinks they are after him for not paying his car registration. Whilst being investigated by the police for suspected witchcraft activity and not his car registration,sam remains confused and Carrott enlists catweazle's help.
Catweazle initially refuses so Carott threatens him with no more free food. Catweazle says he will not starve as his ''aim is true'' and points to dead animal pelts he's shot on the wall of castle saburac.
Bribing him with his harmonica as a reward Carrott convinces catweazle to help out. They go to the police station and catweazle using a bow and arrow fire a message supposedly through an open window, only to smash a non-opened one instead.
The message attached to the arrow tells the police to meet them in the graveyard to find the real culprit of the stolen broomsticks. Upon where catweazle places a spell on the policeman and Sam is released from questioning.
The House of the Sorcerer Episode A really funny episode and fast paced aswell. Catweazle out in the woods sees an ornathologist recording insect sounds etc.
Meanwhile farmhand sam wants to work for him and quite his job at the farm. Catweazle sees sam go to the caravan and automatically thinks the worse.
When carrot arrives at castle saburac catweazle is frantic and chanting his gab gabba a gabba a everything and nothing in particular.
He is forced to show carrott what is happening and so they head off to the caravan. Inside carrott sees sam's shoes lying on the chair and believing that catweazle is finally right for once calls catweazle into the caravan.
Looking around to see what else is happening catweazle becomes excited by all the sound recording equipment.
Meanwhile the orathologist starts to return and carrott rushes off to tell his father that sam's been killed and in his own haste to get away catweazle gets tangled up and has to hide in a small broom cupboard in the caravan.
A broom falls out and prevents the door from being closed properly and then ''touchwood' starts to croak. This sparks the ornathologist's curiosity and finds catweazle in the cupboard.
Mistaking him for Wally a friend of sam's who he thinks might also be interested in working for him gets him to record his voice and details on his tape recorder.
Explaining how it works catweazle hears sam's voice on the tape and is spooked. The ornathologist winds the tape back and explains he is doing so to catweazle.
This really gets catweazle excited at the prospect of being 'wound back'' thinking it would be to his own time. However the ornthologist presses some wrong buttons and the screeching animal sounds are heard again.
Catweazle freaks out and rips the tape from the recorder and flees the caravan ruining the ornathologist's work. The Demi Devil Episode 9. The monkey escapes and finds his way to castle saburac.
The colonel is expecting an old chum to visit that he hasn't seen for many years and mistakes catweazle for him.
Catweazle gets covered in water and changes into other clothes provided by the colonel. He and the colonel then drink and catweazle liking the taste gets drunk and passes out.
Meanwhile mr bennet and carrott arrive at the colonel's for dinner and the pet monkey is found. The Power of Adamcos Episode 8.
Catweazle loses his sacred witchknife ''adamcos'' which is accidentally found by mr bennet while walking in the woods. The shop is run by a very camp owner who is making costumes for the local pageant.
Mr bennet gives the owner the adamcos as a gift. Being very busy he puts the shop closed sign up on the door to deter customers. Carrott and catweazle arrive at the shop but thinking it is closed catweazle places a magic spell on the door to open it.
There is nobody in the shop as the owner had popped out to buy some items for the costumes he was finishing. Looking around for adamcos they find nothing but catweazle fears as a result he is dieing especially when he sees his reflection in a mirror which he believes to be his own spirit.
Suddenly mr bennet arrives back at the shop so catweazle is hidden inside a tomb of cleopatra while mr bennet and sam the farmhand take some of the boxes of costumes out to the car to be delivered to the pageant.
Next the owner returns and catweazle in the cleopatra tomb falls over and the door of the tomb opens.
This causes the shop owner to faint and they realise that he is wearing adamcos and are able to retrieve it. The Telling Bone Episode 7. The Magic Face Episode 6.
The photographer gets catweazle to clean her flashy sports car while she and her female partner who is very masculine - suggesting lesbian overtones albeit very subtly after all this was a children's TV series go off to take photos.
Meanwhile carrott arrives at thier residence and goes to steal the photos taken of catweazle from inside the house so as to remove the spell catweazle believes is now on him.
Carrott tells catweazle to keep watch and to honk the car horn if the photographers return. Ever inquisitive he messes with the horn which gets stuck, carrott comes running with the photos and catweazle flees off back to castle saburac while carrott tries to unjam the car horn.
The photographers return and realising what has happened chase off after catweazle in their car despite the fact that catweazle had emptied the bucket of water into the car as he fled.
The Eye of Time Episode 5. However as he is underage he seeks help from an uncooperative catweazle. Forcing him to dress in old scarecrow clothes to go into the village via a bus referred to as ''thou roaring chariot'' by catweazle it is here that catweazle sees a sign that points to the fortune teller's rooms.
HE then goes to see her and tells her that she doesn't have ''the eye of time'' that it is ''shut'' to her and that she tells customers to bet on the wrong horses and then rings the local bookie that another false customer is on his way.
Meanwhile mr bennet discovers that sam has been using carrot to place his bets and suggests that first he phones them through and next sam will have him hanging around betting offices which is where he ends up finding carrott.
This for me was one of the funniest episodes of series 1 more less. The Witching Hour Episode 4. The Curse of Rapkyn Episode 3.
Episode 3 of series one sees hexworth farm in financial troubles with Mr Bennett played by Aussie actor Charles Tingwell overdrawn at the bank by pounds.
Believing there is a curse on the farm,Carott seeks the help of Catweazle. During which catweazle after causing havoc by letting ''touchwood'' get loose and scaring a bunch of schoolgirls visiting the museum,discovers the book of Rapkyn.
Via the book it's discovered that 2 stones hidden somewhere on the farm must be found to remove the curse. One ''in the tower and one in the water''.
The tower being the living room chimmney and the the water being an old well. Both leading to hillarious situations.
The two stones are found in perfect condition and also fit the missing pieces of a rare artifact at the museum who pay Mr Bennett pounds thus lifting the financial burden.

So in essence, unless Catweazle has learned to speak the English of the middle ages overnight, he should not be able to understand or make himself understood without a huge amount of difficulty.
Plus his ability to read the English of the 20th century should also be more or less non-existent. However as this is a childrens programme, you can understand the writers decision to overlook this issue.

It grew so much since the catweazle events I remember in Northgate hall roughly 20 years ago! Matt offers the Same Wonderful fun loving friendly quality open stage event with a delightful artistic twist and a loving attentive audience!
So many wide opened curious eyes and ears it was delightful! Great stuff to express yourself safely within the local community!

No two nights the same, the acts are often of a high standard and occasionally utterly unique. September gezeigt.
Die Serie wird immer wieder von verschiedenen Sendern wiederholt. Seit dem Die Normannen haben die Angelsachsen im Jahr besiegt und der angelsächsische Hexenmeister Catweazle lebt voller Furcht als Einsiedler in einer Höhle.
Dort wird er von feindlichen Kriegern überfallen und will auf der Flucht vor diesen mit Hilfe eines Zauberspruches davonfliegen.
Der Junge lässt sich von seiner merkwürdigen Erscheinung nicht weiter beeindrucken. Catweazle wendet listigerweise Hypnose bei Harold an, dadurch ist es diesem nicht möglich, irgendwem von dem Magier zu erzählen, was den Farmersohn sogleich in Schwierigkeiten bringt.
Harold versorgt den Magier mit dem Lebensnotwendigsten und versucht, ihn mit der Zivilisation des Jahrhunderts vertraut zu machen. Vor allem aber muss Harold dafür sorgen, dass sein Vater und der Knecht Sam Woodyard den seltsamen Gast nicht entdecken.
Eines Tages schmuggelt Harold seinen verwahrlost wirkenden Freund ins Haus, damit er ein Bad nehmen kann. Als Sam später den kauzigen Zauberer doch entdeckt, kommt es zu einer wilden Verfolgungsjagd und Catweazle flieht in den Wald.
Dort entdeckt er einen stillgelegten Wasserturm, in dem er sich häuslich niederlässt. Sein neues Heim tauft er Burg Saburac und verwandelt es immer weiter in ein Alchemielabor.
Die Farm hat leider finanzielle Schwierigkeiten. Harold vermutet, dies könne daran liegen, dass ein Fluch auf dem Hof lastet. Er bittet Catweazle um Hilfe.
Dieser findet im örtlichen Museum ein altes Zauberbuch, welches ihm als sehr nützlich erscheint. Auf der Farm taucht öfters eine gewisse Miss Bonnington auf.
Harold kann sie nicht leiden. Er glaubt, sie wolle seinen Vater heiraten. Der tatsächliche Grund für ihre häufigen Besuche ist allerdings ein anderer, denn Vater Bennett hat den Bau neuer Stallungen bei der Gemeinde beantragt und berät mit Miss Bonnington, wie man den Gemeinderat beeinflussen könne.
Harold schmiedet mit Catweazle ein Komplott, um Bonnington loszuwerden. Catweazle erklärt Harold, wie er mit Hilfe einer kleinen Puppe der ungeliebten Bonnington die Masern anhexen will, doch dazu benötigt er Haare der Miss.
Da trifft es sich gut, dass Bonnington gerade zum Friseur gehen will. Dort vollführt der Magier als Ablenkungsmanöver vor den erschrockenen Kundinnen einen wilden Wichteltanz.
Doch sein Vater, der nicht will, dass sich sein Sohn in Wettbüros herumtreibt, durchkreuzt sein Vorhaben. Catweazle besucht inzwischen ebenfalls Madame Rosa, durchschaut aber schnell, dass sie eine Betrügerin ist.
Er beschimpft die angebliche Hellseherin zunächst, dass sie mit dem Wettbüro unter einer Decke stecke und hypnotisiert diese daraufhin. Noch bevor sie sich davon erholen kann, ist Catweazle schon wieder fort — gemeinsam mit ihrer Kristallkugel.
Bei einem Spaziergang mit dem Hofbesitzer begegnet sie dem Catweazle und ist fasziniert von seiner bizarren Erscheinung. Derringer hält Catweazle für das interessanteste Fotomotiv, das ihr je vor die Linse gekommen ist.
Sie möchte ihn unbedingt fotografieren und versucht ihn zu sich nach Hause einzuladen. Catweazle hat keine Vorkenntnisse, was fotografieren bedeutet.
Er fleht Harold an, ihn zu befreien. Als Catweazle wieder einmal versucht mittels Magie in seine Zeit zu gelangen, geht wieder etwas schief und er hängt an einer Kirchturmspitze.
Pfarrer Potts aus Bandon, einem Ort in der Nähe der Hexenhoffarm, holt ihn dort runter, zunächst im Glauben einen Selbstmörder zu retten.
Später hält er den Fremden schlichtweg für verrückt und ruft Mr. Bennet von der Farm an, damit dieser Catweazle abholt. Der Zauberer ist vollkommen erstaunt, wo der Pfarrer hineinspricht.
Er hält den Telefonhörer für einen Zauberknochen. Für Catweazle ist das alles verwirrend, denn das Theaterstück spielt ausgerechnet in der Normannenzeit, aus der er geflohen ist.
Als er im Wald auf als Normannen verkleidete Laienschauspieler trifft, die dort auf dem Weg zur Probe eine Autopanne hatten, ist er entsetzt.
Panisch flieht er vor ihnen und verliert dabei sein Zaubermesser Adamcos , welches er für überlebenswichtig hält.
Dort kommt es zwischen den beiden und dem Besitzer zu einigen Turbulenzen. Catweazle versucht Harold nach einem Streitgespräch über das diebische Verhalten des Magiers in eine Unke zu verhexen.
Als dabei ein kleiner Affe in seinem Alchemie-Labor auftaucht, der zuvor Oberst Upshaw entlaufen ist, glaubt Catweazle, dass diese ihm unbekannte Tierart der verzauberte Harold ist.
Sofort bedauert er seine Handlungsweise und versucht den vermeintlichen Harold zurückverwandeln. Er ist zunehmend verzweifelt, als er dies nicht schafft und sieht ein, dass er dringend Hilfe benötigt.
Diese sucht er bei Upshaw den er einmal beim Abfeuern eines Jagdgewehres beobachtet hat. Sein Besuch führt zu Verwechslungen und einigem Chaos.
Er versucht, die gefangenen Vogellaute aus den Geräten zu befreien. Zudem vermutet Harold, Sam sei von Fitton ermordet worden. Immerhin hat Catweazle vage mitbekommen, dass die Stimmen in den Bändern eingefangen sind und diese zu hören sind, wenn sie am Tonkopf der Bandgeräte entlanglaufen.
Wieder in seiner Alchemiewerkstatt angelangt, zieht Catweazle sich sogleich ein von Cyril entwendetes Band über den eigenen Kopf, natürlich ohne mit dieser Vorgehensweise Erfolg zu haben.
Die örtliche Polizei und Sergeant Bottle sind ratlos. Immer wieder werden ihr Diebstähle von Reisigbesen gemeldet.
Der Sergeant wird aufgefordert, dem Spuk eine Ende zu bereiten. In Verdacht gerät ausgerechnet der harmlose und sympathische Sam.
Einige der gestohlenen Besen wurden aber an einer Stelle gefunden, an welcher der Farmarbeiter sein Auto geparkt hatte. Der Sergeant lässt ihn festnehmen.
Harold ist darüber empört. Er ist sich sicher, dass Catweazle die Besen in egoistischer Weise für seine magischen Rituale entwendet hat.
Bennett hat eine neue Haushälterin, Mrs. Skinner, eingestellt, die ihren Sohn mitgebracht hat. Die neue Hofbeschäftigte hat einen zweigesichtigen Charakter: in Gegenwart von Mr.
Bennet ist sie liebenswürdig, doch Harold und Sam haben zu leiden. Auch ihr genauso gearteter Sohn trägt dazu bei.
Catweazle braut einen Zaubertrank um seinem Freund zu helfen — eine Art Wahrheitsserum. Nachdem Mr. Glücklicherweise ist Tante Flo gekommen, um ihren Bruder zu pflegen.
Sie ist spiritistisch angehaucht und glaubt an Geister. Catweazle nutzt die Gelegenheit, sich auf dem Hof herumzutreiben, ohne von Harold in die Schranken verwiesen zu werden.
Er arbeitet verstärkt daran, wieder in seine Zeit zu gelangen, und geht zum See, aus dem er in die Gegenwart gelangte. Als Tante Flo Catweazle im Haus dabei entdeckt, ist sie fest davon überzeugt, dem Geist eines verstorbenen Jugendfreundes begegnet zu sein.
Der Magier versucht vergeblich, auch sie zu hypnotisieren. Beide führen auf skurrile Weise ein kurzes Gespräch, welches im Grunde nur aus Missverständnissen besteht, aber Catweazle fasst dabei neuen Mut für eine Rückreise in seine angestammte Zeit.
Im September wurde bekannt, dass es eine deutsche Neuverfilmung von Catweazle geben wird. Gespielt wird Catweazle von dem Komiker Otto Waalkes.
Der Film sollte ursprünglich zu Weihnachten in den Kinos anlaufen. Der Filmstart wurde inzwischen auf den März verschoben. Namensräume Artikel Diskussion.
